High Chief Dr. Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has expressed deep shock and sadness over the sudden passing of former Delta State Governor, Dr. Chief Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, on Monday, October 19, 2026.
In an official condolence message issued by his Media Consultant, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, the Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited stated that the news of the former governor’s demise came as an unexpected and painful blow.
Reflecting on Dr. Uduaghan’s legacy during his tenure as Governor (2007–2015), Tompolo paid tribute to his proactive leadership during the heights of security agitation in the Niger Delta region.
He highlighted how Dr. Uduaghan’s administration played a vital role in fostering regional stability, supporting the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), and facilitating critical pipeline surveillance frameworks during the administrations of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The message read in part, “High Chief Ekpemupolo received the news of the death of the former two-term Governor of the state with sadness, as he was not expecting this sad news at this time.
“Tompolo recalled the role of the former Governor during the days of militancy in the Niger Delta; how the former Governor supported the Presidential Amnesty Programme and the pipeline surveillance job awarded during the time of Late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and former President Goodluck Jonathan.”
Extending his prayers to the Uduaghan family, friends, associates, and the people of Delta State, High Chief Ekpemupolo prayed that God Almighty grant everyone affected the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, noting that the former governor will be greatly missed.
