‘My Daughters Have Done Better Than a Son Would’ – Dangote

President of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, has said having a son is not a priority for him, stressing that his three daughters have performed well and are capable of carrying on his legacy.

Dangote made the remarks during an interview with ARISE News when he was asked whether he still desired a male heir to carry on the family name.

“That is not my priority because God controls everything. You can pray for God to give you a son, but he might be the one to take down the name of the family. Sometimes, when God doesn’t give you something, don’t push,” he said.

The billionaire, who has three daughters, Mariya, Halima and Fatima , said he did not believe having a son would have produced better results.

“I don’t think a son would have done better than the three daughters I have,” Dangote said.

He also said one of his daughters could eventually lead the Dangote Group, noting that he had watched all three develop within the family business.

“I think, yes, I can see one of them.”

“I’ve been watching all of them, so I can see definitely one of the three that can actually lead.”

The comments come amid discussions about succession at the multibillion-dollar Dangote Group and the role of the businessman’s children in the future of the conglomerate.

Dangote also confirmed that his family had signed an agreement to dedicate one-third of his estate to the Dangote Foundation for philanthropic activities after his death.
