Warri South Chairman Vows to End Cult Killings, Visits Scene of Latest Attack
The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Isaac Agbateyiniro, has declared a renewed offensive against cult-related violence, vowing that the wave of killings and insecurity troubling parts of the council area will not be allowed to continue.
Agbateyiniro made the declaration during an inspection visit to the scene of a recent cult-related attack that claimed the life of a young man, assuring residents that his administration was taking decisive steps to restore peace and protect lives.
The visit comes amid growing public concern over recurring cult clashes in parts of Warri South, which have left residents living in fear and disrupted economic and social activities in affected communities.
Speaking during the visit, the council boss described the continued loss of lives to cult violence as unacceptable, stressing that his administration was fully committed to ending the menace through collaboration with security agencies, community leaders, youth groups and other stakeholders.
“We cannot continue to lose our young people to cult-related violence. The security of lives and property remains a top priority of this administration, and we are determined to restore lasting peace across Warri South,” Agbateyiniro said.
The chairman revealed that his administration had recently held a series of high-level security meetings and inaugurated an Inter-Community Task Force specifically designed to tackle cultism, criminality and insecurity within the local government area.
According to him, the task force will work closely with security agencies and community leaders to identify criminal hideouts, monitor suspicious activities and prevent further outbreaks of violence.
Agbateyiniro emphasized that peace and security are critical ingredients for development, noting that no community can attract investment or achieve meaningful economic growth in an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.
“Businesses can only thrive in a peaceful environment. Investors need confidence, and our people deserve to live without fear. That is why we are taking concrete steps to address this challenge,” he stated.
While sympathizing with the family of the deceased, the chairman appealed to youths to reject cultism and other criminal activities capable of destroying their future and destabilizing their communities.
He also urged residents to support security agencies by providing useful information that could help identify and apprehend criminal elements operating in the area.
As part of his security assessment tour, Agbateyiniro inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the Daudu Police Station, a project being undertaken by the local government to strengthen security infrastructure and improve the operational efficiency of law enforcement personnel.
Residents who interacted with the chairman during the visit commended his swift intervention and proactive approach, expressing optimism that the newly introduced security measures would help restore lasting peace to Warri South.
