Vinicius Jr Faces Potential 2-Year Ban From Football
Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior is facing a potential two-year ban from football as FIFA launches an investigation into his alleged involvement in owning multiple football clubs.
The Brazilian international’s business dealings have raised concerns, with FIFA examining potential breaches of its Code of Ethics.
According to reports, Vinicius co-owns ALL Agenciamento Desportivo, a company that has acquired stakes in several football clubs, including Portuguese second-division side Alverca and Brazilian side Athletic Club de São João del-Rei.
This alleged ownership could violate Article 20 of FIFA’s Code of Ethics and Article 22 of the Spanish Football Federation’s Code of Sports Justice, which prohibit active players from directly or indirectly owning football clubs.
The complaint, filed by Brazilian investment firm Tiberis Holding, claims Vinicius’s company was involved in the sale of a 16.5% stake in Athletic Club de São João del-Rei, without granting Tiberis the right of first refusal.
If found guilty, Vinicius could face severe consequences, including a fine or suspension from all football-related activities for up to two years.
Tiberis Holding’s complaint highlights the potential conflict of interest arising from Vinicius’s involvement in club ownership. FIFA’s investigation will determine whether Vinicius has breached its regulations, which could lead to disciplinary action.
Vinicius has been an instrumental part of Real Madrid’s campaign this season, consistently delivering standout performances. However, the potential ban could have significant implications for the team and the player.
