Oborevwori Hails Cubana Millennium City as Investment Boost

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has described the Cubana Millennium City project in Asaba as a transformative development capable of driving investment and urban growth in the state.

Oborevwori made the remark on Sunday during the inauguration of the prototype building at the Cubana Millennium City located in the Asaba Capital Territory.

The project, developed by businessman and socialite Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, coincided with his 51st birthday anniversary and drew dignitaries, including the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku.

Speaking at the event, the governor praised the investor’s vision and resilience, noting that the project had evolved from a doubtful concept into a visible reality.

He recalled initial skepticism over the timeline but expressed satisfaction that the vision had been delivered, emphasizing that private sector investments remain key to economic growth.

Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining a peaceful and secure environment for investors, adding that government intervention helped resolve potential land disputes to ensure smooth project execution.

Highlighting the importance of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), he said the development aligns with the state’s vision of building secure, livable, and investment-friendly urban centres.

Earlier, Iyiegbu described the project as a personal milestone and the realization of a long-held dream. He said the initiative represents a “bring it back home” vision aimed at promoting investment in Delta State.

He acknowledged initial doubts about the project’s feasibility but credited the Delta State Government, host communities, and stakeholders for their support.

Iyiegbu further commended the state’s peaceful and investor-friendly environment, noting the absence of disruptions during construction, and expressed confidence that the Millennium City project would compete on a global scale.
