Mohbad’s Father Shares ‘Painful’ Final Hours of Singer in VDM Interview
The father of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has revealed heartbreaking details about his son’s final moments during an emotional sit-down with activist and social commentator, VeryDarkMan (VDM).
Mr. Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba becomes the fifth individual linked to the ongoing controversy surrounding Mohbad’s untimely death on September 12, 2023, to speak publicly in VDM’s interview series.
The interview, now viral on Instagram, follows recent revelations by one of Mohbad’s close friends, adding new layers to the singer’s mysterious death.
Mr. Aloba recalled how what began as a routine hospital visit quickly turned into the darkest day of his life. He said he first got a call around 4:30 p.m. from Iya Moh, Mohbad’s mother, informing him that his son was unwell and receiving treatment at the hospital.
“I waited so we could go together. She came with Wunmi’s aunty, Iya Tunde, and we got on a ferry,” he narrated.
While en route, multiple calls came in. One particularly unsettling call came from Darosha, Mohbad’s cousin and close associate.
“He told me, ‘You can go back home, Moh is fine and receiving treatment.’ But I refused. I knew something was wrong,” he said.
By the time they arrived at Osapa London bus stop around 6:30 p.m., Mr. Aloba said his instincts grew stronger. They finally reached the house at about 9:00 p.m.
“The first thing I saw was a duvet soaked with blod. I was confused,” he said.
Shortly after, Mohbad’s friend, Lifestyle, called him downstairs. There, he was met with a devastating sight—his son’s lifeless body lying on the floor, surrounded by Islamic clerics. The room, he said, was filled with people including Zlatan, DJ Bami, Darosha, and Mohbad’s lawyer.
He recalled that Wunmi, Mohbad’s wife, was crying and said the singer had reacted badly to an injection.
“As a pastor, I instantly dismissed that explanation,” Mr. Aloba said.
Even more troubling events reportedly followed at the police station.
“We went to the police station. As I was giving my statement, someone came out and said they must not give me the police report because I didn’t report his death on time,” he alleged.
He further claimed that Wunmi had the doctor’s report but did not disclose it, and that Mohbad’s body was embalmed in the house without his consent. To worsen matters, the morgue allegedly refused to accept the body that same night.
