DESOPADEC Orders Timely Completion of Oduga School Assembly Hall Project


The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) has intensified efforts to accelerate infrastructure delivery across its mandate areas as a member of the Governing Board representing the Ndokwa ethnic nationality, Dr. Charles Olisa, inspected the ongoing construction of an Assembly Hall at Oduga Secondary School, Ushie.

During the inspection visit on Thursday, June 11, 2026, Dr. Olisa charged the contractor handling the project to ensure strict compliance with DESOPADEC’s contract conditions, technical specifications, and approved quality standards.

He directed that the project be completed and delivered by August 2026, emphasizing that the Commission would not compromise on quality, accountability, and timely execution.

According to him, the Assembly Hall project aligns with DESOPADEC’s commitment to delivering people-oriented infrastructure capable of improving educational development and enhancing community life within oil-producing communities.

“This project is part of DESOPADEC’s mandate to provide tangible and impactful infrastructure that improves learning conditions and supports community development across the oil-producing areas.

“We expect contractors to maintain professional standards, meet agreed timelines, and ensure transparency throughout project execution,” Dr. Olisa stated.

The DESOPADEC Board member reiterated the Commission’s zero-tolerance policy against substandard projects, stressing that value for money remains a key benchmark for all interventions executed under the Commission.

He explained that the inspection exercise forms part of the Governing Board’s broader strategy under the leadership of Board Chairman, Olorogun Barr. John Nani, and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Chief Festus Ochonogor, to fast-track the delivery of sustainable projects across DESOPADEC’s mandate areas.

Dr. Olisa further noted that the Commission’s project delivery approach aligns with the M.O.R.E Agenda of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, which focuses on Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.

Upon completion, the Assembly Hall is expected to reduce congestion within the school, improve the learning environment, and provide a suitable venue for educational and community-based activities at Oduga Secondary School, Ushie.

Residents and stakeholders have expressed optimism that the project would further strengthen educational infrastructure and contribute to sustainable development in the Ndokwa area.
