DESOPADEC Hosts KOSOPADEC Delegation, Strengthens Inter-Commission Collaboration
The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) has welcomed a delegation from the Kogi State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (KOSOPADEC) as part of ongoing efforts to enhance collaboration and improve development models among oil-producing states.
The visit, which took place on Thursday, 27 November 2025, was led by the Executive Director of Projects on the DESOPADEC Board, Olorogun Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, at the Commission’s headquarters in Warri.
Dr. Okorodudu, who received the KOSOPADEC team on behalf of the Board and Management, commended the Kogi commission for taking proactive steps to understudy operational frameworks of more established intervention agencies.
“Anyone or any organization that reaches out to others to learn already possesses a vision that will yield success,” he said. “DESOPADEC ranks number one because of its robust organization. Since our establishment in 2007, we have operated under the principle of quantum and currently cover 21 out of Delta’s 25 local government areas.”
He assured the visiting delegation that the Commission is ready to provide full operational insights during their upcoming courtesy visit scheduled for two weeks’ time, adding that DESOPADEC remains committed to supporting other agencies working to improve oil-producing communities.
Dr. Okorodudu also briefly highlighted the structure and functions of his Directorate, explaining the roles of the Projects Monitoring Department, Housing Department, Utilities Department, and other units within the Commission.
Earlier, the leader of the Kogi delegation, Dr. Engr. Usman Nda Mohammed, who serves as Executive Director of Social Services in KOSOPADEC, said the visit followed a formal request to understudy DESOPADEC’s systems in order to deepen the effectiveness of their own operations.
He expressed appreciation for the warm reception, describing the engagement as productive and timely for Kogi State’s development agenda.
Those present at the meeting included: Engr. Elliot Olokor – Head, Projects Monitoring & Evaluation, QS. Oyimi Williams – Head of Housing, Mr. Festus Ifovwodo – Head of Utilities, Prince Gavin Ugbome – Chief Security Officer, and Engr. Tony Okuwe – Executive Assistant to the Executive Director of Projects
The courtesy visit marks an important step in fostering stronger synergy between Delta and Kogi oil-producing development agencies, with both Commissions expected to deepen technical exchanges in the coming weeks.
