Delta Cares Program Will Add Value to the More Agenda – Deaconess Oborevwori

The Wife of the Governor of Delta State and the founder of “You Matter Charity Foundation” Deaconess Tobore Oborewori has said the successful implementation of the Delta CARES program will add value to the MORE Agenda so that the people at the grassroots could feel the impacts.

Deaconess Oborewori stated this when the State Co-ordinator of the Delta Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus(D-CARES) program, Lady Dr Patience Ogbewe and Technical Heads of the delivery platforms along with some staff paid a courtesy visit.

The Governor’s wife revealed that the D-CARES objective aligns with the mission of the “You Matter Charity Foundation” which is to provide support to the poor and vulnerable in the society noting that the foundation believes in creating a world where everybody is somebody.

She also disclosed the successful implementation of the various Delta CARES programs will also add value to the MORE agenda of his husband, the governor saying he wants the people, especially at the grassroots to feel the impact of their office.

While expressing satisfaction about the program, she said,” I am glad that the D-CARES intervention program seeks to provide the needed relief and support to the vulnerable persons”.

She assured them of her commitment to partner with them for the overall benefit of Deltans.

Earlier, State Co-ordinator, Lady Dr. Patience Ogbewe congratulated the Governor’s wife for their numerous winnings and celebrations especially the recent which is her birthday.

Lady Ogbewe noted that the visit is with the blessings of the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Chairman of the State CARES Steering Committee, Mr Sonny Ekedayen to advocate the CARES program which is a World Bank-assisted initiative borne out of the need to assist the government in providing succour to its citizens in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.

Dr. Ogbewe emphasized that the program is designed to directly support poor and vulnerable households with social transfers, basic services and livelihood grants including ensuring food security through agriculture as well as extending support to Micro and Small Enterprises institutions and individuals who were adversely affected by the pandemic.

The World Bank expert further revealed that the scope of the program was expanded to include other shocks especially environmentally induced ones and the present socio-economic downturn where more persons now living below the international poverty line of $2 per day.

The State Co-ordinator said the CARES program in the state had provided support to certified 50,072 beneficiaries to date and an estimated 44,000 beneficiaries have also received support and have been verified by the Independent Verification Agents and certification by the World Bank is ongoing.

She promised to fully partner with the pet project of Her Excellency, ” You Matter Charity Foundation” to actualise the MORE agenda for all Deltans.
