2027: Delta APC Flags Off Campaign In Isoko

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to kick off its 2027 election campaign in Isoko South, with infrastructure development, job creation, economic empowerment and security forming the centrepiece of its campaign message.

The campaign flag-off is scheduled for Thursday, November 5, at Oleh Township Stadium, with party leaders and supporters expected from the state’s 25 local government areas.

Speaking during a media briefing ahead of the event, Chairman of the Delta State APC Media and Publicity Committee and Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, said the party was committed to peaceful, decent and issue-based electioneering.

He explained that Oleh was selected because of its strategic location and accessibility to the three senatorial districts, adding that the flag-off would be followed by a state rally in Ozoro, Isoko North, before the campaign moves to individual local government areas.

Aniagwu said the APC would focus on presenting the achievements of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration and its development plans under the MORE Agenda and proposed MORE Plus programme, rather than engaging in political controversies.

Highlighting ongoing investments, he cited the groundbreaking of Olam Agri’s animal feed mill in Ogwashi-Uku, which is expected to create over 1,000 direct jobs and support poultry and fish farming when completed.

He also outlined key projects in Isoko Nation, including the College of Health Technology, Ovrode, developments at Southern Delta University, Ozoro, the Emevor-Orogun and Olomoro-Igbide roads, and the Asaba-Ase-Uzere Bridge.

On the Emevor-Orogun Road, Aniagwu disclosed that the governor had directed the processing of the remaining 15.7 kilometres of the project, following the completion of more than eight kilometres.

He further referenced interventions to address electricity challenges in the area and the governor’s directive for medical outreach services following reports of a gas leak and oil spill in Uzere.

On the party’s electoral prospects, the commissioner said the APC would rely on grassroots mobilisation, persuasion and direct engagement with voters rather than unrealistic promises.

He also assured that the party would respect the rights of opposition parties to campaign peacefully, urging journalists to provide balanced and factual coverage throughout the electioneering period.

The Oleh flag-off marks the beginning of the APC’s statewide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the party seeking to build its campaign around governance, development and its record in Delta State.
