DELSU Convocation: Mulade, Son Shine With PhD, MSc

A remarkable father-son academic milestone was recorded at Delta State University (DELSU) as Sheriff Mulade earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in International Relations, while his son, David Sheriff Mulade, bagged a Master of Science (MSc) in Mass Communication.

Both were honoured during the institution’s 18th Convocation Ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session, held on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

Mulade, founder of the Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) and National Treasurer of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), described the achievement as a reflection of commitment to education and personal growth.

Speaking after the ceremony, David expressed gratitude for his father’s influence on his journey.

“I am grateful to my father for his constant support and example. This achievement is a continuation of the foundation he has laid, and it will further strengthen my career in journalism and media practice,” he said.

The dual accomplishment has been widely described as a moment of pride, highlighting dedication to excellence, leadership, and lifelong learning.

Observers note that the achievement is particularly significant within Gbaramatu Kingdom, where it stands as an inspiring example of shared commitment to education across generations.
