‘You Forgot to Beg Tinubu for Kanu’ – Portable Fires Back at Cubana Chief Priest
Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has taken a swipe at nightlife promoter Cubana Chief Priest over his recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu regarding the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The clash followed Cubana Chief Priest’s warning on Thursday that Tinubu’s political fortunes in the South-East would be severely affected after a court sentenced Kanu to life imprisonment on seven counts of terrorism. In a social media post, the celebrity bartender claimed the president “will never get up to 10,000 votes” in the region during the 2027 elections if Kanu remains incarcerated.
Reacting in a viral video on Friday, Portable accused Cubana of hypocrisy, saying he failed to use his access to the president to advocate for Kanu’s release.
“When you went to President Bola Tinubu’s office, you went to fight for your own self-interest. You didn’t remember to ask him to release your brother, Nnamdi Kanu,” Portable said.
The singer also dismissed Cubana’s prediction of Tinubu’s electoral loss, insisting that the South-East would still deliver votes for the president in 2027.
“You’re saying Tinubu won’t get votes from the South-East? You’re joking. They will use money to get votes from your people, and your people will take the money,” he said.
Portable further alleged that Cubana prioritised personal benefits during his visit to the Presidential Villa.
“You went to take pictures with the president, collected money and a contract, but forgot your brother who was in jail. Who told you Tinubu won’t get votes? Tinubu will be reelected,” he added.
The exchange has generated heated reactions online, adding to ongoing debates about Kanu’s imprisonment and its political implications ahead of the 2027 general elections.
