In a follow up statement, Cubana Chief Priest emphasized that his intention was to advocate for Kanu’s freedom, not to question Tinubu’s electoral support. He assured the president that, despite earlier concerns, his votes in the South-East are secure.
“I have been on call for over 42 minutes with the Deputy Speaker, and from all he briefed me, all hopes are not lost. The celebrity also stressed the importance of allowing Kanu to return to the region, saying, “As long as you help us by letting MNK come home to us to fix the South-East, just do your 8 years dey go. Since his detention, the South-East has failed woefully. We need to rise again.”
Cubana Chief Priest indicated that he would be visiting Kanu soon, together with the Deputy Speaker, to discuss matters directly with the IPOB leader.
He also highlighted the need for constructive collaboration with regional leaders, particularly Abia State Governor Alex Otti, whom he described as having genuine influence in the South-East.
