Sowore Challenges Ned Nwoko’s Claim on Regina Daniels’ Age, Demands Clarification from INEC

Human rights activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has responded to Senator Ned Nwoko’s recent statement denying reports that he married Nollywood actress Regina Daniels while she was underage.

In a post shared on his verified social media account, Sowore insisted that available documents contradict Nwoko’s claim, alleging that Regina’s international passport reflects a different date of birth than what is shown on her voter’s card.

“We have obtained a copy of Regina Daniels’ international passport, which was issued based on her birth certificate. It shows she was underage at the time of her marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko,” Sowore wrote.

He further questioned the credibility of the voter’s card presented by Nwoko as proof of Regina’s age, calling for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to explain the alleged discrepancy.

“It’s crucial to question INEC about this discrepancy because the process for obtaining a voter’s card may not require the same level of scrutiny as an international passport, which is based on a birth certificate and other verifiable identification documents,” Sowore added.

The activist also accused the Delta North senator of deliberately avoiding travel with Regina Daniels to certain countries, a claim the senator has not publicly addressed.

Sowore’s comments come hours after Nwoko released an official statement dismissing reports that he married Regina Daniels at 17. The senator maintained that she was 21 years old, citing her INEC voter’s card as evidence of her date of birth.

According to Nwoko, their marriage, which took place six years ago, was lawful and verifiable, adding that any contrary narrative was “politically motivated.”

As of press time, Regina Daniels has not issued any public statement addressing the age-related controversy or the conflicting claims from both men.

The renewed exchange between Nwoko and Sowore has sparked widespread online debate over documentation standards, data verification, and the role of institutions like INEC in authenticating personal records.
