Ned Nwoko Refutes Claims He Married Regina Daniels at 17, Shows Proof of 21 at Marriage

A fresh round of controversy has erupted over the age of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels at the time of her marriage to billionaire businessman and lawmaker, Senator Ned Nwoko.

Reacting to renewed allegations circulating on social media, Senator Nwoko dismissed as “entirely false and misleading” claims that he married Regina when she was 17 years old.

In a statement personally signed by him, Nwoko clarified that Regina presented verifiable identification documents before their marriage, confirming she was 21 years old at the time.

“During my first meeting with Regina, I asked her age, and she told me she was 21. She presented her INEC voter’s card, which showed she was born on October 10, 1998,” the senator stated.

Adding that, “Our marriage took place six years ago, which means Regina is 27 years old today. Any suggestion that I married her at 17 is false and should not be accepted by the public.”

He maintained that the INEC voter’s card and other records in his possession remain verifiable, adding that reports suggesting otherwise were the handiwork of individuals trying to smear his reputation.

The controversy follows viral social media posts alleging that Nwoko married Regina Daniels when she was still a minor. The allegations, reportedly amplified by activist Omoyele Sowore, claimed that travel and identity documents contradicted the senator’s account — a claim Nwoko strongly disputes.

While Sowore insisted that “records show” Regina was underage at the time of the union, Nwoko countered that such claims were “fabricated and politically motivated,” urging the public to rely on verifiable evidence rather than online speculation.

Observers say the renewed media attention comes amid tension in the couple’s relationship, with recent online exchanges suggesting temporary estrangement. Despite this, sources close to the family indicate that efforts are ongoing to resolve personal differences privately.

Senator Nwoko, who represents Delta North Senatorial District, urged the public to exercise caution and “approach all unverified claims with discernment.”

“The facts are verifiable and indisputable. Until verification is done, the public should be wary of false narratives being peddled by those seeking attention,” he added.

As of press time, Regina Daniels has not issued an official statement addressing either the allegations or her husband’s clarification.
