NANS Sets May 24 for 2026 Presidential Election in Abuja
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has officially fixed May 24 as the date to elect a new national president during its 2026 national convention slated for Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Chairman of the 2026 Independent Convention Planning Committee, Omotayo Samuel, announced the timetable while briefing journalists in Abuja, stressing that all preparations are underway to ensure a smooth, constitutionally guided election.
Samuel said several sub-committees have been constituted to coordinate logistics and grassroots engagement ahead of the convention, a key event in the Nigerian student movement calendar that unites student leaders from campuses nationwide.
NANS zonal leaders have thrown their support behind the planning committee, calling for a transparent and credible national convention ahead of the May poll.
As student delegates mobilize across states, stakeholders are gearing up for one of the most significant leadership transitions in the student body, reaffirming democratic processes that have governed the umbrella organisation for decades.
