JAMB Approves SIM, Email Changes for Candidates
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has eased restrictions on the swapping of candidates’ registered GSM numbers and changing of registered email addresses.
The development takes effect from Monday, September 21, 2026, according to information released by the Board on its official social media platforms.
Under the revised arrangement, candidates who have lost access to their registered SIM cards or email accounts can now update their details through a controlled process. Current reports also confirm that the measure is intended to assist candidates who can no longer access their registered contact details.
JAMB stated that the option is specifically for candidates who have lost access to their registered SIM or email account.
However, the Board stressed that “THE SERVICE CAN BE ACCESSED ONLY ONCE!”
Candidates seeking to use the service are required to provide their new GSM number and/or email address, as well as a duly executed Court Affidavit, scanned and ready for upload.
The requests must be processed only at designated JAMB CBT (PTC/PRC) Centres, including State Offices where applicable.
JAMB also warned candidates against using unauthorised individuals or channels to process the changes, stating in the graphic: “Do not patronise unauthorised persons or channels.”
The revised arrangement follows JAMB’s introduction of stronger identity and biometric verification measures, which have enabled the Board to review its previous restrictions on changes to registered candidate contact details.
The Board said the service is intended to help genuine candidates who have lost access to their registered contact details while maintaining safeguards against fraud and unauthorised alterations to candidates’ records.
