How Nigerians Can Apply for FG’s Laptop, Smartphone Loan Scheme
The Federal Government has opened applications for its Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme, giving eligible Nigerians access to laptops, smartphones and tablets through an affordable financing scheme.
The initiative is being implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy to expand digital inclusion, improve access to productivity tools and encourage the use of locally assembled devices.
For the pilot phase, the programme is primarily open to participants of the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative. However, the application portal also lists programmes such as ALX, AltSchool Africa, Andela Learning Community, HNG Internship, Learn2Earn and Genesys Tech Hub, indicating that the scheme may be expanded to participants from these organisations in future phases.
To qualify for the FG’s C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme, applicants must:
- Provide their state of residence
- Applicants must indicate the state where they currently reside by selecting one of Nigeria’s 36 states or the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
- State their employment status
Applicants must disclose their current employment status by selecting one of the following:
- Salary earner
- Freelancer or self-employed
- Business owner
- Student
- Job seeker
- National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member
Applicants may also provide their monthly income, although this is optional.
- Be part of an eligible digital skills programme
The pilot phase is currently limited to participants of the Federal Government’s 3MTTprogramme. However, the application portal also lists ALX, AltSchool Africa, Andela Learning Community, HNG Internship, Learn2Earnand Genesys Tech Hub for possible inclusion in future phases. - Choose a device and explain its intended use
Applicants must select whether they want a:
- Smartphone
- Laptop
- Tablet
They must also indicate how they intend to use the device, with options including:
- Learning and professional certifications
- Remote work
- Freelancing
- Software development
- Business expansion
- Content creation
- School and other educational purposes
- Agree to verification
Applicants must confirm that the information provided is accurate and authorise CREDICORPand its partners to verify their details before their application can be processed. - Indicate how they heard about the programme
Applicants are required to state how they became aware of the C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme by selecting one of the following:
- 3MTT
- Social media
- Friend or family
- School
- Employer
- Google Search
- Other
How to Apply
- Visit the L.I.C.K.D. application portal.
- Click “I’m Interested.”
- Complete the application form with the required information.
- Submit the form for verification and eligibility assessment.
The C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme forms part of the Federal Government’s digital inclusion strategy aimed at helping more Nigerians access essential digital devices through affordable financing while promoting the adoption of locally assembled technology products.
