Kebbi University Shuts Doors Immediately as Security Threats Escalate
The Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero, Kebbi State, has abruptly shut down all academic activities amid rising security threats affecting educational institutions across northern Nigeria.
In an emergency memo issued by the Office of the Registrar and Secretary to Council, the management ordered the immediate closure of the university and directed all staff and students to vacate the campus without delay. The directive applies to every category of learner, including postgraduate, undergraduate, diploma, remedial and IJMB students.
The notice, signed by Registrar Maimaro Tilli, instructed students to leave the campus within one hour of the announcement. It added that the university’s Security Division had been authorised to evacuate any student still found in hostels or other restricted areas after the deadline.
Students residing off campus particularly in areas such as Gidan Rami, were similarly urged to vacate their lodges to avoid what the memo described as “embarrassment” by enforcing security personnel.
While the university provided no official explanation for the sudden decision, credible internal sources indicate that the shutdown is connected to escalating security concerns in the region. The institution stated that the closure will remain in effect until further notice.
