INEC Reports 8 Million Online Voter Registrations in Ongoing CVR
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that over eight million Nigerians have completed online registration in the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
According to fresh data obtained by CHANNELS TELEVISION from the Commission on Tuesday, a total of 8,003,196 online registrations were recorded in the ninth week of the exercise, covering 13th to 19th October 2025.
INEC data shows that women are leading the registration figures, with 4,190,890 entries (52.37%) compared to 3,812,306 males (47.63%). Young Nigerians between ages 18 and 34 dominate participation, representing 5,533,514 registrants (69.14%), followed by those aged 35–49 with 1,678,212 (20.97%). Registrants aged 50–69 accounted for 704,866 (8.81%).
Students topped the registration chart with 2,018,967 entries (25.23%), followed by business professionals at 1,659,690 (20.74%). Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) made up 182,718 registrants (2.29%), reflecting inclusive participation across demographics.
Imo State recorded the highest number of online pre-registrations with 826,850 entries (10.32%), followed by Lagos State with 604,619 (7.56%) and Ogun State with 510,062 (6.37%). Yobe State had the lowest figure with just 2,714 registrations (0.03%).
INEC also noted that the CVR exercise remains suspended in Anambra State in line with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022, pending the conclusion of the November 8 governorship election.
A total of 1,710,450 Nigerians have completed both online and physical biometric capture. Out of this number, 956,566 completed online, while 753,884 finished at physical centres.
Youth engagement remained the highest, with 1,261,288 registrants aged 18–34 (73.74%). Female registrants once again led the process with 945,305 (55.27%), compared to 765,145 males (44.73%). PWDs accounted for 24,207 (1.41%).
Students dominated the completed registration category with 566,391 entries (33.11%), followed by businesspersons with 316,295 (18.49%) and housewives with 259,932 (15.28%).
Osun State recorded the highest number of completed registrations with 151,593, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with 106,855, Kano with 96,280, Imo with 90,469, and Lagos with 85,831. Rivers State recorded 28,507 completions.
INEC further emphasized that final voter registration figures are subject to data validation through the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS), which will identify and remove multiple or invalid entries to ensure credible voter data.
