2027: Omo-Agege Is Targeting Oborevwori for Media Attention — Aniagwu

Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads and Public Information), Charles Aniagwu, has defended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s record while responding to recent claims by former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, ahead of the 2027 elections.

Aniagwu spoke on Sunday during an interview on Arise News’ The Morning Show, where he said the Oborevwori administration would focus on its achievements rather than political exchanges as the 2027 elections approach.

Aniagwu pointed out that Oborevwori and Omo-Agege are seeking different positions in the 2027 elections. While Oborevwori is seeking a second term as governor of Delta State, Omo-Agege is seeking to return to the Senate to represent Delta Central.

He questioned why allegations involving the governor would form part of Omo-Agege’s campaign for the senatorial seat, saying the focus should instead be on what candidates intend to offer the people.

The commissioner also rejected claims that Oborevwori had threatened Omo-Agege, describing such allegations as inconsistent with the governor’s character.

“That is not the kind of governor we have. Our governor does not go into making threats,” Aniagwu said, pointing to what he described as the relative peace and security in Delta State under the present administration.

Aniagwu said the Oborevwori administration would enter the 2027 campaign with its record of projects and achievements as its major selling point.

“Our campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections is going to be evidence-based. We will be showcasing what we have done, what constitutes our report card,” he said.

He said the government would highlight projects across Delta’s 25 local government areas, including communities associated with opposition figures.

Aniagwu also cited the ongoing Emevor-Orogun Road project as an example of the government’s infrastructure programme.

According to him, the road covers 15.7 kilometres, with more than eight kilometres already completed under Phases I and II, while work on Phase III is progressing.

The commissioner stressed that the government’s development agenda was not based on political affiliation.

“The governor is interested in the development that will touch his people,” he said.

Aniagwu maintained that the administration would remain focused on delivering projects across Delta State and allow its performance to speak for it ahead of the 2027 elections.
