Fallen Heroes Brig. Gen. Braimah, Captain Ismail, Others Laid to Rest at Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery, Maiduguri

It was a moment of grief and reverence on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, as late Omo Braimah and other fallen soldiers were laid to rest with full military honours at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery.

The solemn ceremony, held in Maiduguri, Borno State, also saw the burial of Captain Ismail and several gallant troops who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, drawing tributes from top government officials, military authorities, and grieving families.

Amid tears and military pageantry, the fallen heroes were honoured for their bravery and sacrifice in defending Nigeria’s unity and security. Their coffins, draped in the national colours, symbolised lives dedicated to service and duty.

The ceremony was attended by Babagana Umara Zulum, alongside top defence authorities including the Chief of Defence Staff and senior military commanders, all gathered to pay their last respects.

In emotional tributes, speakers described the deceased as patriots who stood firm in the face of danger, sacrificing their lives so that millions of Nigerians can live in peace.

“They paid the supreme price in defence of our nation. Their courage and sense of duty will never be forgotten,” one of the officials stated.

Families of the fallen heroes watched in sorrow as military rites were performed, including the reading of citations detailing their service records and acts of bravery.

Prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of their souls, while gun salutes and ceremonial honours echoed across the cemetery, marking a final farewell to the brave.
