Frederick Leonard Debunks Fake Paid Audition Claims
Nollywood actor and filmmaker Frederick Leonard has cautioned aspiring actors and the general public against falling victim to fraudsters falsely claiming to conduct auditions for his newly launched production company.
In a video shared on his verified Instagram page, Leonard dismissed reports that he was charging audition fees, stressing that he is “not conducting auditions” and has not authorized anyone to recruit or collect money on his behalf.
The actor clarified that no audition has been scheduled for his production company, urging members of the public to disregard any invitation requesting payment or personal information in exchange for acting opportunities.
Leonard emphasized that whenever auditions are eventually announced, the information will be communicated exclusively through his verified social media accounts.
His warning comes amid growing concerns over online impersonation and fake casting scams targeting aspiring actors. Industry experts and consumer protection agencies have consistently advised that legitimate casting calls do not require payment of registration or audition fees.
This is not the first time the award-winning actor has raised the alarm over impersonation, having previously warned fans against fake social media accounts and scammers exploiting his identity.
