Bolaji Ogunmola Breaks Down After Flight Cancellations Disrupt Film Project
Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Bolaji Ogunmola, has recounted a distressing experience after repeated flight cancellations left her stranded at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, disrupting the production schedule of her new film project.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, the actress explained that she travelled to Ekiti State for work related to the commencement of filming but was unable to return to Lagos as planned due to persistent delays and eventual cancellation of her flight.
Ogunmola disclosed that the project had already incurred costs estimated between ₦15 million and ₦20 million, with actors, crew members, catering services, and logistics fully arranged in Lagos for the first day of shooting. She stressed that her timely return was critical to keeping the production on schedule.
According to the actress, she was scheduled to depart Ekiti the previous day but was informed at the airport that the flight had been delayed. After waiting for several hours, she was later told that the flight had been cancelled without any alternative arrangements. Efforts to secure another flight through Akure, she said, were unsuccessful.
She further explained that after paying for accommodation near the airport, she was assured of an 8:00 a.m. departure the following day. However, despite arriving at the airport as early as 6:30 a.m., she was informed that the flight had been rescheduled several times, first to 9:30 a.m., then to 12 noon, and later to 5:30 p.m.
Describing the experience as painful and frustrating, Ogunmola criticised what she described as poor communication from the airline, noting that the repeated disruptions had a direct impact on her livelihood and the work of her production team already on set.
She emphasised that the trip was strictly work-related and not for leisure, adding that the uncertainty surrounding the flights left her considering travelling by road to Lagos despite safety concerns.
The actress said she shared the video to document her experience rather than to accuse or attack anyone, appealing for improved communication and greater accountability in the aviation sector to protect passengers whose work and safety depend on reliable air travel.
