‘Entertainment Is Where Demons Live’ — Jim Iyke
Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has sparked widespread reactions after describing the entertainment industry as a space that promotes self-glorification rather than godly values.
Speaking during an appearance on The Joey Akan Experience podcast, the actor argued that the entertainment industry is structured in a way that encourages self-worship, adding that creatives must make a conscious effort to remain connected to God.
“There is no bigger enabler than the entertainment industry. This is where demons live.”
Iyke further claimed that the industry’s value system is largely inconsistent with his understanding of Christian principles.
“Entertainment is totally orchestrated and created to extol the virtues of Satanism. What in entertainment glorifies God, except you intentionally or consciously go for Him, or pursue Him, or find your place with Him?”
Questioning the ideals celebrated within the industry, he added: “What do we extol that’s godly?”
The actor, however, clarified that he was not suggesting God is absent from the entertainment industry. Instead, he maintained that creatives who desire a relationship with God must intentionally pursue their faith despite the pressures of the profession. He also argued that while creativity reflects God’s nature, many people within the industry ultimately end up serving themselves rather than God.
Jim Iyke’s remarks have since generated intense debate on social media, with opinions divided between those who agree with his assessment of the entertainment industry and others who believe faith and entertainment can coexist.
