ASUU STRIKE: NANS/JCC URGE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO MEET UP WITH HER DEMAND
The attention of the leadership of NANS/JCC has been drawn to the news of commencement of nation wide indefinite strike by the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU).
The leadership of NANS/JCC Delta State Axis under my watch hereby calls on the federal government to as matter of urgency look into the issues raised by ASUU with a view of finding a prompt and lasting solution to the lingering issue of poor funding for the Universities.
The issue of funding is very critical to the survival of our educational system, hence we urge the government to do the noble thing and save education in Nigeria.
While we solidarize with ASUU, the leadership of NANS is not comfortable with such breach of academic activities and will not condone an elongated strike as such windows will render students idle and expose them to social vices and crimes beyond tempering with their academic calender.
It is on this note we appeal to the leadership of ASUU to always give dialogue a room and to ensure they yield to a positive agreement with the federal government as soon as possible to ensure they come back to class room.
Dio Oghale Emeka Rex (SAP, SANS) CHAIRMAN, NANS/JCC, Delta State Axis
