2027: Toyin Abraham Rejects Lagos APC Campaign Council Role

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has distanced herself from the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council after her name appeared on the party’s list ahead of the 2027 elections.

Abraham was listed among members of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate unveiled by the Lagos APC on Thursday. However, the actress said she was not a member of any campaign council and had chosen to stay out of politics.

In a statement shared on her Instagram Story, Abraham urged the public to disregard her reported inclusion in the campaign structure.

“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote.

Her name appeared alongside several prominent entertainment figures, including veteran actor Jide Kosoko, actresses Eniola Badmus and Bimbo Akintola, and Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba.

The Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate is headed by Toke Benson-Awoyinka, with Kosoko listed as Co-Director and Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director. Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, was listed as Secretary, while Dare Olateju was named Assistant Secretary.

The campaign council was unveiled by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre ahead of its scheduled inauguration on Friday, September 18, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.

Abraham had publicly supported President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election. Her latest statement, however, indicates that she does not consider herself part of the current Lagos APC campaign structure.

The actress did not explain why her name appeared on the campaign council list but maintained that she was staying out of politics and asked the public to disregard the reported inclusion.
