Osinbajo Reveals Why He Quit Drinking Alcohol
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, has opened up on the personal experience that led him to stop drinking alcohol, describing it as a defining moment in his life journey.
Osinbajo shared the story in a video circulating online, where he explained that the decision came after a reflective encounter during his time working in an international mission in Somalia.
According to him, although he was already a pastor at the time, he occasionally consumed alcohol, but a particular incident made him rethink his choices.
He recounted that after preaching at a fellowship service, he stopped at a restaurant within a United Nations compound to buy drinks, where he met colleagues from different countries.
Osinbajo said the moment took a turn when his colleagues reacted in a way that made him reflect on his conduct and identity.
He explained that one of them told him, “You are the priest, and we cannot be drinking around the priest.”
The comment, he said, stayed with him and made him reconsider his lifestyle and spiritual responsibility.
Since that experience, Osinbajo said he made a personal decision to stop drinking alcohol completely, describing it as a moment of conviction rather than pressure.
The former Vice President noted that the experience shaped his outlook on discipline, influence, and personal values.
