Military Warns South Easterners Against Promoting IPOB Activities on Social Media

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has warned residents of the South East against promoting the activities of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network, on social media.

General Musa stated this during a community engagement in Omor, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State. He emphasized that spreading unverified information poses a threat to national unity and peace.

“The military belongs to them,” he said. “They should always provide us with actionable information. When you see something, say something. It is only through such cooperation that we can effectively tackle insecurity and restore peace.”

He condemned IPOB’s actions, saying they are detrimental to the South East and Nigeria as a whole. The military, he assured, is committed to protecting law-abiding citizens and restoring peace.

The traditional ruler of Omor, Eze Igulube, praised the military’s efforts to maintain peace in the region. “The commitment and bravery of the Armed Forces in ensuring peace in our community have not gone unnoticed,” he said, pledging the community’s support in providing credible intelligence to enhance security.

General Musa reassured the community that the military’s role is impartial and focused on ensuring peace and stability in Nigeria.
