‘I’m a Grown Man’- 2Baba Slams Family Over Interference in Marriage Crisis
Nigerian music superstar Innocent Idibia, better known as 2Baba, has issued a strongly worded statement criticizing members of his family for what he describes as destructive interference in his marriage to Natasha.
The controversy surrounding the couple has dominated online discussions for days, following reports of a heated exchange between 2Baba and Natasha in the United Kingdom. According to circulating accounts, the argument drew the attention of UK authorities, leading to the singer’s brief arrest.
The situation escalated further after a tense Instagram Live session hosted by broadcaster Daddy Freeze, during which the couple openly confronted each other while thousands watched. The viral clips intensified public speculation about cracks in the marriage, with fans expressing concern over the singer’s wellbeing.
Tensions grew even more after a message allegedly shared by his brother, Hyacinth Idibia, suggested increased family involvement, prompting widespread assumptions that the family was attempting to intervene in the couple’s marital issues.
Breaking his silence, 2Baba took to social media to reject the claim that he needed rescuing, insisting that his family’s intrusion was doing more harm than good.
“This whole thing has gotten dangerously out of hand,” he said in a viral video. “I’m not going to be quiet anymore. I’m a grown man, and I have the right to be with whoever I want to be with. My family, in the pretext of trying to save me, has actually destroyed me and killed someone’s daughter’s character. Natasha is getting death threats right now.”
He admitted that he and Natasha, like any couple, have disagreements but said the situation had been blown out of proportion.
“Fine, we’ve had our quarrels, who doesn’t quarrel with their spouse? But this is getting out of hand. I’m perfectly okay. Everyone saw me recently at my Abuja show. How do you say you want to save me while you’re messing everything up? It’s unacceptable.”
2Baba also hinted that this pattern of family interference was not new, referencing past issues involving his wife Annie Idibia.
“My family did this with Annie, the same thing. We all have our differences, but this is becoming so dangerous right now,” he said.
