‘Nigeria is better off than many years ago’ – 2Baba
Nigerian music icon 2Baba, also known as Innocent Idibia, has stated that Nigeria is in a better position compared to previous years, despite ongoing political and socio-economic challenges.
Speaking during a recent interview on Wazobia TV, the discussion revisited one of his classic songs, “E Be Like Say,” which reflects on governance and societal issues.
The host noted that the themes from the song remain relevant today, saying, “Now we are back in that political season again, and the same issues are still happening”
Responding, 2Baba said, “We are better off than many years ago. Just look at it.”
The conversation also turned to whether the veteran singer has plans to venture into politics.
He explained that he had previously participated in campaign-related activities in a non-partisan role, but intends to continue contributing in his own way.
“It’s still ongoing, but I will continue doing it. I will set up my own position and try to make a difference. I’ll try to make it work because I know where I stand.”
The award-winning artist further emphasised his personal commitment to representing Nigeria positively on the global stage.
“I have personally appointed myself as an ambassador of Nigeria an ambassador everywhere, I am a self-appointed ambassador of Nigeria to everywhere.”
2Baba remains one of Nigeria’s most influential entertainers, known for using his platform to speak on national issues and advocate for social change.
