Wizkid’s Gunna Collaboration Splits Opinion, Dominates Music Conversations
Nigerian singer Ayodeji Wizkid Balogun is attracting global attention following his collaboration with American rapper Gunna on the newly released album The Last Wun.
The 25-track project, released on August 8, 2025, is Gunna’s sixth studio album and his final under YSL Records and 300 Entertainment. It features several high-profile guests, including Offset, Burna Boy, Asake and Nechie, with a sound that blends melodic trap, Afrobeats, rap and R&B.
Reactions to the Wizkid Gunna collaboration have been mixed. On social media platform X, user @GucciStarboi described the track as exceptional, saying, “Wizkid is no longer a normal human, he’s now a god!!! Jesus, see music.”
Another fan, @BigMallyX, praised Wizkid’s versatility and influence on global music tastes.
Not all listeners shared the enthusiasm. In a Reddit discussion, user spaghetti-policy_ ranked Wizkid as the “worst feature” on the album, while X user @abena_sarfowah said, “Gunna has just made the worst decision putting Wizkid on that Album!”
Loyal fans were quick to defend the singer. Instagram user hii__lexy wrote, “Wizkid is a ‘Failed Glory,’ Wizkid is ‘Flop,’ but everyone keeps seeking Wizkid’s verse! Can your fav relate?? NO. WIZKID TODAY, Wizkid tomorrow, Wizkid Ayodeji Balogun Forever.”
Some comments took a lighter tone, with @boi_oroma joking about Wizkid’s lyrical style, and @kviktoh declaring the track the best on the album.
Official chart data for The Last Wun has yet to be released. However, Gunna’s history of high Billboard 200 debuts suggests a strong opening is likely, with Wizkid’s international following expected to boost streams in Africa, the UK and the Caribbean.
