Why Former PDP Boss Solomon Arenyeka Now Heads Delta APC

Chief Solomon Arenyeka, former PDP State Chairman, has been elected Delta APC State Chairman in a move aimed at uniting former PDP members with APC leadership, strengthening internal democracy, and boosting the party’s 2027 electoral prospects.

Arenyeka’s election at the Delta APC State Congress held at the Cenotaph, Asaba, follows the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and key PDP structures into APC in 2025, a strategic realignment that reshaped Delta’s political landscape.

“Leadership comes with responsibility. By electing Arenyeka, the APC ensures unity, broad consultation, and the inclusion of diverse party voices,” a party insider said.

Other key executives elected alongside Arenyeka include Elder Moses Iduh (Deputy Chairman), Chief Efe Uko (State Secretary), Chief Paulinus Akpeki (Delta Central Chairman), and Christopher Agali (State Youth Leader), among others.

Governor Oborevwori urged the new executive to prioritize grassroots engagement, strengthen party cohesion, and mobilize voters ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Our mission is unequivocal. We must secure victory at every level, the Presidency, Senate, House of Representatives, Governorship, and State Assembly,” Oborevwori stated.

Political analysts note that Arenyeka’s integration into APC leadership consolidates former PDP supporters, creating a united front to enhance the party’s appeal and ensure broad-based electoral success.

“We consider ourselves privileged to serve and pledge to justify the confidence imposed in us. By God’s grace, we shall deliver all APC candidates in the 2027 elections,” Arenyeka said in his acceptance speech.

The congress drew leaders and stakeholders from across Delta State, marking a celebratory and unified start for the APC ahead of the next electoral cycle.
