WAEC Launches Digital Certificates In Nigeria, Four Other Countries

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially rolled out its Digital Certificate Services System, WAEC DigiCert, across all five of its member countries, Nigeria, Ghana, The Gambia, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Announced in a statement by Demianus Ojijeogu, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC’s headquarters in Accra, Ghana, the platform is a mobile and web-based application designed to make original digital certificates easily accessible.

According to WAEC, the system allows candidates and institutions to access, request, confirm and securely share digital copies of original certificates worldwide. Users can also recover lost WAEC examination numbers on the platform.

“The WAEC Digital Certificate Services System offers candidates the opportunity to access, request, confirm and securely share digital copies of their certificates with institutions worldwide,” the council explained.

WAEC assured the public that traditional printing and issuance of physical certificates will continue, while urging stakeholders to adopt the new system to avoid administrative bottlenecks associated with manual processes.

The mobile app is available for download on both the App Store and Google Play Store, and further information is accessible via the council’s official website and social media platforms.
