Pete Edochie is Alive — Son Leo Denies Death Rumours
Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie is very much alive, his son Leo Edochie has confirmed, dismissing viral online claims that the 78-year-old film legend had died.
The actor’s clarification came in a video posted on Instagram, where Leo described the rumour as completely false.
The false report originated on X, where a user claimed Edochie had passed away in a hospital under “unknown circumstances” and alleged that his “elder son” had confirmed the death.
One of the posts read: “Nollywood actor Pete Edochie have just passed away at the age of 78 after being rushed to the hospital last due to unknown circumstances, His elder son have confirmed the passing of Pete Edochie this morning on his IG. It’s was a tragic moment he said, rest in peace sir.”
In the Instagram video, Leo strongly condemned the rumour and reassured the public that his father is not only alive but also in good health. He called the report a “lie from the pit of hell” and criticised those spreading it for wishing harm on the veteran actor.
“I have been receiving calls over some nonsense that people have been posting that our father has died. It’s a lie from the pit of hell, our father is not just alive but hale and hearty,” Leo said in the video.
He went on to condemn social media users who spread the false claim:
“If you wish someone died, two things happens he lives very long, and you will die before him. Shame on you all of you, God punish you,” Leo added.
This is not the first time rumours about Pete Edochie’s death have circulated online. Similar hoaxes have surfaced over the past decade, including false claims of fatal accidents and overseas deaths, prompting frequent denials from the actor and his family.
