Oborevwori Commissions Ozoro Ultra-Modern Market, Boosts Trade and Investment
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting trade, investment and economic growth with the commissioning of the Ozoro Ultra-Modern Market in Isoko North Local Government Area.
Oborevwori, represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, commissioned the market on Thursday, describing the project as an investment in commerce, job creation and improved livelihoods.
He said: “My administration had unwavering commitment to providing infrastructure that supports trade, investment and economic prosperity.
‘It is my firm belief that this facility will not only boost economic activities but also create jobs, stimulate innovation, improve internally generated revenue and enhance the overall well-being of our citizens.
“I urge the traders, buyers and entrepreneurs who will utilize this facility to take full advantage of the opportunities it presents. I also encourage all stakeholders to ensure the proper maintenance of this market so that it remains functional, attractive and beneficial to present and future generations.
“Let us collectively safeguard this investment and use it to promote legitimate business, peaceful coexistence and shared prosperity.”
The governor said the market would provide a modern and organised environment for traders, artisans and business owners to expand their businesses, create wealth and contribute to the state’s economy.
He described Ozoro as a longstanding commercial centre and said the project would further position the town as a vibrant hub for economic activities.
The facility comprises 28 lock-up shops, 192 open shops, eight upstairs packing stores, a warehouse, cold room, four administrative offices, a market hall, two security posts, toilets, a central water scheme and external interlocking and horticulture.
Oborevwori said the project demonstrated his administration’s commitment to completing projects that directly benefit residents.
“Beyond providing a modern and organized trading environment, this facility will stimulate commercial activities, support small and medium-scale enterprises, enhance livelihoods and create opportunities for employment and wealth creation.
‘Indeed, with this modern facility, we are laying a stronger foundation for sustainable economic activities and positioning Ozoro as an even more vibrant commercial hub.”
He urged traders and residents to protect and maintain the facility to ensure it continues to serve present and future generations.
The Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Hon. Samuel Oligida, said the market would improve the business environment for traders and entrepreneurs in Ozoro and neighbouring communities.
The President-General of Ozoro Kingdom, Chief Berkley Eloviano, commended the state government, describing the project as a major boost to economic development and community livelihoods.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Council, Elder Godwin Ogorugba, said the market would create jobs, stimulate economic activity, improve internally generated revenue and enhance the livelihoods of residents.
At the event, businessman Engr. Omoyibo Daniel supported 250 market women with N200,000 each.
Residents and community leaders appealed for the protection of the facility against vandalism and urged users to ensure its proper maintenance.
