Moniepoint CEO Says Nigerian Job Seekers Don’t Meet Global Standards

The Chief Executive Officer of Moniepoint, Tosin Eniolorunda, says the fintech company is currently struggling to fill about 500 job vacancies due to a shortage of qualified talents in Nigeria.

Speaking in a viral video circulating on social media, Eniolorunda said the company made a strategic decision to prioritise hiring locally but has faced difficulties finding candidates who meet its global standards.

“We made a decision that we will no longer hire from any other place than Nigeria. If you go to Moniepoint career website, we have maybe 500 vacancies and we are struggling to find people to fill those roles,” he said.

“Not only could we not find people at the quality and the quantity we needed, the few people that we found were not up to the global standards that we need.”

His comments have sparked conversations online about Nigeria’s talent pool, employability skills, and the growing demand for globally competitive expertise in the tech and fintech sectors.

Moniepoint, one of Nigeria’s leading financial technology companies, continues to expand its operations, but the recruitment challenge highlights a wider concern around skill gaps in the country’s workforce.
