Lagos State Endorses Tacha Guinness World Record Makeover Attempt
The Lagos State Government has officially declared support for media personality and entrepreneur, Tacha Akide, as she prepares to break the Guinness World Record for the most cosmetic makeovers by an individual in 24 hours.
The record attempt will headline the Tacha Beauty Festival, a three-day event scheduled for October 10–12, 2025, at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture & History in Lagos. Tacha plans to complete 150 makeovers within 24 hours, a feat that could place her in the Guinness World Records while spotlighting Nigeria’s fast-growing beauty industry.
Speaking on the initiative, the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Idris Aregbe, described the attempt as more than just a record-breaking effort.
“This is more than a record attempt. It is a statement that Nigerian creativity and excellence can compete anywhere in the world. The Tacha Beauty Festival is about empowering talent, celebrating culture, and creating a space where beauty meets opportunity. Lagos State is proud to support this project,” Aregbe said.
According to organisers, the festival is positioned as a hub for commerce, creativity, and cultural celebration. Beyond the Guinness World Record attempt, it will feature workshops, masterclasses, vendor exhibitions, business development sessions, and cultural showcases designed to promote local enterprises.
Key highlights include; Industry-led training in makeup, skincare, wellness, and fashion, a vendor village for emerging beauty brands and networking opportunities for creatives and entrepreneurs
Tacha, a former reality TV star, expressed excitement about the upcoming challenge, describing it as a chance to represent Nigerian excellence on the global stage while inspiring young creatives to pursue bold dreams.
The announcement comes as Nigerians continue to excel in Guinness World Record attempts. Just last week, celebrity chef Hilda Baci secured a new record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lb 9 oz). The achievement, confirmed by Guinness World Records, was celebrated across the country.
