Iyabo Ojo Threatens New Lawsuit Against Lizzy Anjorin Over Defamation
Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has threatened to file a fresh lawsuit against her colleague Lizzy Anjorin over alleged defamatory comments and threats directed at her family.
This comes months after the Lagos State High Court, Osborne Division, struck out Ojo’s ₦1 billion defamation suit against Anjorin on procedural grounds, ordering her lawyer to pay ₦500,000 in costs to Anjorin’s counsel.
The feud between the two actresses, which has spanned years, has played out across social media and the courts. Anjorin, in several Facebook live sessions, has repeatedly mocked Ojo, fuelling viral parody videos across TikTok and Facebook.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Ojo stated that her legal team had been gathering evidence despite her silence.
“My legal team isn’t sleeping. They are taking note of everything. A wise person listens to learned counsel. Everything has its timing,” she wrote.
While noting that some parody videos amused her, Ojo expressed concern over curses and alleged threats she said were directed at her grandson and other family members.
“The insults, curses, even death wishes Liz has directed at my family, especially my grandson, are heartbreaking,” she added.
The actress also linked her long-running feud with Anjorin to her public support for Folashade Tinubu, wife of Anjorin’s husband, which she claimed triggered attacks.
Tensions escalated after Ojo alleged that Anjorin should be held responsible if anything happened to her or her family. This followed a fire incident at her Lagos office, which her daughter Priscilla tied to ongoing threats, including a letter in May alleging their movements were being monitored.
Ojo, who recently welcomed her first grandchild, said she has so far prioritized family but intends to take firmer legal action once she returns to Lagos.
