Manchester City Extend Gvardiol’s Contract Until 2031

Manchester City have secured the long-term future of defender Joško Gvardiol after the Croatia international signed a new contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2031. The Premier League champions confirmed the agreement on Tuesday, extending his stay by a further five years.

Gvardiol, who joined City from RB Leipzig in 2023, has quickly established himself as one of the club’s most reliable defenders, making more than 120 appearances and winning multiple major honours during his time in Manchester.

Reacting to the extension, the 24-year-old said he knew from the moment he arrived that Manchester City was where he wanted to be, describing the club as the ideal environment to continue his development. He also praised the club’s supporters, calling them the team’s “12th man.”
