Peller Reveals What He Endured During Four Days in Police Custody
Popular Nigerian TikToker and livestreamer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has opened up about his time in police custody, claiming he did not bathe or eat for four days during his detention.
Peller made the revelation after regaining his freedom following his arrest and arraignment over an alleged confrontation with police officers in the Lekki area of Lagos. He described the experience as physically and emotionally difficult, saying the conditions in custody took a toll on him.
“I didn’t bathe, eat for four days in police cell,” Peller said while recounting his ordeal.
The TikToker was arrested after an encounter with police officers along Coastal Road in Lekki. He and his associate, Bello Oladipo, were later arraigned before a Lagos Magistrates’ Court on charges including conspiracy, obstructing police officers in the discharge of their duties, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace. Both pleaded not guilty.
The court granted Peller bail in the sum of ₦500,000, with two sureties, including one blood relative, while ordering the submission of valid tax clearance certificates.
His account of life in detention has since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with supporters expressing sympathy and renewing calls for improved treatment of detainees and respect for due process.
