Delta Police Smash Kidnap Syndicate, Recover Network Jammer, AK-47, Victim’s Vehicle
The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected kidnappers, recovered sophisticated equipment including a network jammer, and seized an AK-47 rifle in separate sting operations across the state.
The breakthrough came after the abduction of a young man from his residence in Ogwashi-Uku on 8 September 2025. The victim, who was shot in the leg after paying a ransom of ₦2 million, was rescued by operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Squad, led by CSP Godwin Osadolor.
According to police, the suspects — Chukwuebuka Nka (25) of Nenwe, Enugu State; Uche Okechukwu of Amaifeke, Imo State; and Somto Chukwuma (18) of Ihiala, Anambra State — were arrested in coordinated raids across Anambra and Delta States. The victim’s white Toyota Venza SUV was recovered, alongside the syndicate’s operational Toyota Matrix (Reg. RRT-331-AE).

In a chilling discovery, operatives also recovered a network jammer circuit device from the syndicate’s hideout in Agidiase village, Ogwashi-Uku. Police believe the device was used to block mobile signals during the operation, preventing the victim from calling for help and delaying law enforcement response.
“The criminals deliberately deploy these jammers to isolate victims, prevent distress calls and frustrate immediate police responses,” a senior police officer explained. The recovered device has been handed over to the Cyber Squad for forensic analysis to determine its range, usage, and possible supply network.

CP Abaniwonda Olufemi
In a related operation on 12 September, a team led by CSP Labe Joseph, DPO Ekpan, arrested two suspects — Elvis Ebroghro (36) and Abiola Adegore (34) — for attempted robbery. A follow-up led to the arrest of another gang member, Lucky Ebroghro, and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle concealed in an isolated building in Ometan Community.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, praised the professionalism of the operatives and stressed that there would be “no safe haven for criminals in Delta State.” He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and urged residents to remain vigilant.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, assured the public that investigations are ongoing and more arrests will follow.
