Delta Police Arrest Yahoo Boy for Killing Friend Over $1,000 Transaction


Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a 28-year-old suspected internet fraudster, popularly known as a Yahoo boy, for allegedly killing his friend following a dispute over a $1,000 transaction.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest, saying the incident occurred on January 21, 2026, at Agbarho community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Edafe said the suspect, identified as Mr. Oghenegare, and the deceased, Mr. Courage, were friends and reportedly involved in internet fraud when an argument escalated into violence.

According to him, the suspect confronted the deceased and hit him on the head during the fight, leading to his death.

The police spokesman also expressed concern over the rising number of murder cases in the state, blaming it on hot temper, drug abuse and issues that could be resolved.

Meanwhile, the suspect, in a video, said the deceased who he admitted as being his childhood friend had “logged” him out of the process of the transaction.
