Air Peace Cites Airspace Issue For Lagos–London Flight Delay
Air Peace has attributed the disruption of its Lagos–London flight operations to airspace access challenges, saying the decision was in line with international aviation safety standards.
The airline explained that the temporary setback affecting its Gatwick–Lagos route was not due to operational failure but rather a “hiccup” in securing or managing airspace access permissions, which are essential for international flight coordination.
Air Peace clarified that such disruptions are often influenced by regulatory, logistical, or coordination issues between aviation authorities and air navigation service providers across different jurisdictions.
According to earlier official statements from the airline, the carrier consistently prioritises passenger safety and regulatory compliance, even when such decisions lead to delays or schedule adjustments.
The airline has faced similar operational interruptions in recent weeks, which it previously attributed to technical checks and safety-related inspections, including bird strike assessments and routine aircraft maintenance procedures.
Despite the disruption, Air Peace reassured passengers that all affected travellers were properly attended to, with support services such as rebooking arrangements and passenger care measures activated where necessary.
The airline reiterated that international flight operations involve multiple stakeholders, including foreign aviation authorities, air traffic regulators, and airport ground handlers, all of which can impact scheduling when coordination issues arise.
Air Peace further emphasized its commitment to maintaining its London route and ensuring uninterrupted connectivity between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, noting that efforts are ongoing to stabilise operations and minimise future disruptions.
The carrier remains one of Nigeria’s leading international operators, serving several regional and intercontinental destinations from its Lagos hub.
