Abia 2027: Gov Alex Otti Warns Politicians Planning to Rig Election

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has issued a strong warning to politicians allegedly planning to rig the 2027 governorship election in the state, cautioning that anyone attempting to manipulate the people’s mandate should “write their wills” before doing so.

Otti gave the warning on Thursday during the October edition of his monthly media engagement, Alex Otti Speaks to Abians, held at the Government House in Umuahia. The session was streamed live via Channels Television’s YouTube platform.

Responding to a question about recent comments credited to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who reportedly boasted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would take over Abia in 2027, Otti said he welcomes democratic competition but would not tolerate electoral malpractice.

“I have heard that some people around him say they must take over this state, that they will write results. The only advice I have for them is that if they truly want to write results, they should write something else before that time — their will,” Otti said.

The governor maintained that the will of God and the people of Abia State would determine the outcome of the 2027 governorship election, not political manipulation or result fabrication.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to defending the people’s mandate and ensuring that the democratic process in the state remains free, fair, and credible.

Otti’s warning comes amid early political manoeuvres and alignments across party lines ahead of the 2027 polls.
