2026: Deaconess Oborevwori Celebrates First Baby of the Year, Clears Hospital Bills, Showers Gifts on Newborns
The First Lady of Delta State, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, has marked the beginning of the New Year with a touching humanitarian outreach at the General Hospital, Ughelli, celebrating the state’s first baby of the year while extending relief to indigent mothers and newborns.
The star baby of the New Year, Baby Anderson, was born at exactly 12:06am on Thursday, January 1, 2025, to Mr. Anderson Umukoro and Mrs. Jite Umukoro. The joyful moment was celebrated with the presentation of a special hamper filled with baby items, cash gifts, and a bag of rice to the proud parents.

The visit, carried out through the First Lady’s You Matter Charity Foundation, also saw Deaconess Oborevwori extend her benevolence beyond the first baby. Several mothers who delivered during the festive period received cash support, baby care items, and bags of rice, while newborns were also gifted essential items to support early childcare.
In a remarkable show of compassion, the First Lady cleared the medical bills of indigent patients at the maternity ward, as well as those of other mothers who could not afford their hospital expenses. The gesture brought visible relief and joy to families who described the intervention as timely and deeply impactful.
The maternity ward was filled with excitement and gratitude as beneficiaries offered prayers and words of appreciation for the thoughtful support, describing the visit as a memorable way to begin the New Year.
Addressing the mothers and healthcare workers, Deaconess Oborevwori emphasized the need for unity, compassion, and peaceful coexistence within healthcare facilities. She urged both patients and medical personnel to continue working together harmoniously to ensure quality and humane healthcare delivery across Delta State.

She reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to maternal and child welfare, noting that the health and well-being of mothers and newborns remain a priority of the Oborevwori administration. According to her, ushering in the New Year by sharing love and easing burdens reflects the core values of compassion, service, and togetherness.
Management and staff of the General Hospital, Ughelli, commended the First Lady for her consistent support to the health sector, describing the visit as a morale booster that would further inspire dedication and professionalism among healthcare workers.
The New Year outreach stands as yet another testament to the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori MORE agenda; people-centred administration and the First Lady’s continued advocacy for the welfare of women, children, and vulnerable citizens across the state.
