‘Twice, We Made History for Nigeria’ – Hilda Baci Gets Second Guinness Plaque
Nigerian celebrity chef and culinary sensation, Hilda Baci, has received her second Guinness World Record plaque, officially recognizing her remarkable achievement for cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
The global record body confirmed that Baci prepared an incredible 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice during a Lagos cookout in September, setting a new world record.
This latest recognition comes barely a year after her first historic feat the 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon in May 2023, which earned her a place in Guinness World Records as one of the most resilient chefs in the world.
Sharing the joyful news on Instagram, Baci posted photos of her two Guinness plaques with the caption:
“Our plaques are finally here! Two records. Two plaques. One story of faith, fire, and history. Twice, God showed up for me. Twice, we made history for Nigeria.”
The record-breaking chef described her back-to-back victories as a celebration of Nigeria’s creativity and culinary excellence, adding that both moments symbolized faith, resilience, and purpose.
“Together with Gino, we created something bigger than ourselves — a story that reached over five billion people and reminded the world what’s possible when passion meets purpose. I’m a two-time world record holder — someone pinch me!” she added.
Baci also quoted Isaiah 61:7, saying her journey was proof that “instead of shame, you will receive a double portion, and everlasting joy will be yours.”
