Tantita Driving Economic Recovery, Sustaining Peace in Niger Delta – Funkekeme

Senior Policy Adviser to the Delta State Governor and State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, has said the engagement of Tantita Security Services Limited to safeguard Nigeria’s critical oil infrastructure has contributed significantly to improving the nation’s economy and restoring stability across the Niger Delta region.

Speaking during an appearance on a television programme, Beyond The Headlines on TVC, Solomon commended President Bola Tinubu for entrusting the surveillance of oil installations to the private security outfit led by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

According to him, the intervention has yielded measurable results through the reduction of crude oil theft, improved oil production output, and increased revenue generation for the Federal Government, states, and local government councils.

Solomon described Tompolo as one of the Niger Delta’s influential figures whose contribution to the region’s development has extended beyond advocacy to practical support for economic growth and security.

He stated that the activities of Tantita Security Services Limited have also opened up employment opportunities for thousands of youths across the region, reduced criminal activities linked to illegal oil operations, and strengthened confidence in the oil sector.

“There is greater peace across the Niger Delta today, oil production has improved, and many young people have been empowered through employment opportunities. The President’s confidence in Tompolo reflects trust in the capacity of the Niger Delta people to contribute meaningfully to national development,” Solomon said.

The former Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly further commended the Tinubu administration for implementing policies and projects that directly impact the Niger Delta and Ijaw communities.

He cited the legal backing granted to the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, and the establishment of an oil and gas medical facility in Benikrukru as examples of interventions that demonstrate commitment to regional development.

Solomon also defended the Federal Government’s ongoing economic reforms, saying the policies had increased financial resources available to different levels of government and created a foundation for sustainable economic growth.

He maintained that while some of the reforms may require time to deliver full benefits, they were necessary for Nigeria’s long-term economic stability.

“Nigeria’s future requires policies built on sustainability rather than short-term popularity. These reforms are designed to secure long-term prosperity, and Nigerians will ultimately benefit from the outcomes,” he stated.

He warned against reversing major policy decisions, including fuel subsidy removal, arguing that continuity and consistency remain essential for sustaining economic progress and achieving national development goals.
