Phyna Demands Sister Ruth Otabor Be Flown to India After Amputation

Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna (Ijeoma Otabor), has called for her younger sister, Ruth Otabor, to be flown abroad for urgent medical treatment following a tragic accident in Edo State.

On August 13, 2025, Ruth was involved in a ghastly accident near Auchi Polytechnic, just six days after graduating from the institution. The incident left her with severe injuries that led to the amputation of her leg.

In a viral video shared on Sunday, Phyna was seen at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo State, where her sister is currently receiving treatment. She was accompanied by some members of the Dangote Group management team, who reportedly visited the family after the incident.

Phyna, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the medical care being provided in Nigeria and demanded that her sister be flown overseas.

“I am putting my sister as Dangote’s child, because if not, Dangote will not bring his child here; they will fly them abroad,” she said.

When challenged by one of the officials present, Phyna stood her ground, insisting that Ruth deserved the same treatment and revealed that her preferred destination for further medical care is India.

Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) handle earlier in the day, Phyna urged her fans to pray for her sister, “anytime you remember Ruth, please say a prayer for her.”

Meanwhile, the Dangote Group confirmed the accident and stated that its team had visited the crash site, engaged with law enforcement authorities, and met the Otabor family at the hospital. The company also pledged full medical support and compensation in line with its welfare policy.

The case has sparked outrage on social media, with the hashtag #JusticeForRuth trending as Nigerians demand justice and better medical care for the victim.

Phyna, who rose to fame in 2022 after winning the BBNaija “Level Up” edition with a ₦100 million prize package, has vowed to ensure her sister receives proper treatment and that the case is not swept under the carpet.
