Petr Čech and Wife Martina Go Separate Ways After 26 Years

Football legend Petr Čech has revealed that he and his wife, Martina, are separating after 26 years together.

The 43-year-old former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper shared the news in an emotional Instagram post, accompanied by a black-and-white photo of Martina kissing him on the cheek.

“Martina and myself are sad to announce that we are separating after 26 years together,” Čech wrote.

“We remain best friends and immensely proud of our two children.”

Čech and Martina met in 1999 as teenagers and married in June 2003. They have two children: Adela, 17, a defender for the Czech Republic’s Under-17 national team, and Damian, 16, who has recently signed his first professional contract with Fulham as a goalkeeper, following in his father’s footsteps.

In January 2008, Čech missed Adela’s birth as he was with Chelsea for a League Cup semi-final against Everton, a match in which he did not play.

Čech joined Chelsea from Rennes in 2004 for £7 million and made 494 appearances for the Blues. His honours include; our Premier League titles, Four FA Cups, Three League Cups, The 2012 UEFA Champions League.

He later joined Arsenal in 2015, winning another FA Cup before retiring from football in 2019.

Following his retirement, Čech pursued ice hockey as a goalkeeper and served as Chelsea’s technical and performance advisor until 2022, stepping down after Todd Boehly’s takeover.

Despite the separation, Čech emphasised that he and Martina remain committed to their children and their friendship.
